Improving Health
through the
TRANSCENDENTAL MEDITATION and
TM-SIDHI Programme

A five-year study of medical care utilisation statistics on
2,000 people throughout the U.S. who regularly practised the
Transcendental Meditation Programme found that their overall
rate of hospitalisation was 56% lower than the norm. The group
practising the Transcendental Meditation technique had fewer
hospital admissions in all disease categories compared to the
norm—including 87% less hospitalisation for cardiovascular
disease, 55% less for cancer, 87% less for diseases of the
nervous system, and 73% less for nose, throat, and lung
problems.

This chart shows three-year averages of medical expenses for
physicians services of participants before and after practice of
the Transcendental Meditation Programme. In this study,
government payments for physicians' services (approximately 20%
of total medical expenses) were examined for 677 Quebec health
plan enrolees who learned the Transcendental Meditation
Programme. During the three years prior to beginning the
Transcendental Meditation Programme, subjects' expenses
(adjusted for inflation, age, and gender) did not change
significantly. After learning the Transcendental Meditation
Programme, subjects adjusted expenses declined significantly by
5%–7% annually.

Conclusion
The deep rest and influence of orderliness provided by the
Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi Programmes allow the
immune system and other self-healing processes of the body to
restore normal, healthy physiological functioning, resulting in
better general health and the prevention of disease.
