Disease-Free Society
through the
MAHARISHI VEDIC APPROACH
TO HEALTH Programme

The Transcendental Meditation technique is a major component
of the Maharishi Vedic Approach to Health Programme. This study
examined the effect of the Transcendental Meditation Programme
on what researchers in the field of ageing have called the
"biological age" of a person - how old a person is
physiologically in contrast to chronologically. As a group,
long-term TM Programme participants, who had been practising the
Transcendental Meditation Programme for more than five years,
were physiologically 12 years younger than their chronological
age, as measured by lower blood pressure, better near-point
vision, and better auditory discrimination. Short-term TM
Programme participants were physiologically 5 years younger than
their chronological age. The study statistically controlled for
the effects of diet and exercise.

This study found that people who participated in a one-week
Maharishi Rejuvenation Programme of the Maharishi Vedic Approach
to Health Programme improved significantly in general
well-being, energy and vitality, strength and stamina, appetite
and digestive patterns, state of mind and emotions, and
youthfulness and rejuvenation. Control subjects who received
only intellectual knowledge of this Programme and its principles
for the same amount of time did not show the same amount of
improvement. These findings indicate that the Maharishi
Rejuvenation Programme, which is recommended to be applied
seasonally to remove accumulated physiological toxins of the
season, promotes physiological and psychological balance.

Conclusion
The Maharishi Vedic Approach to Health Programme is effective
in maintaining health and preventing disease because it restores
balance to the mind, body, and environment. It provides
techniques such as the Maharishi Rejuvenation Programme and
herbal food supplements to maintain balance in the individual.
In addition to the findings listed here, it also contains
collective health measures to eliminate stress and promote a
disease-free society.
